Refleksi Pengantar
Pater Samuel Maranresy MSC selaku Ketua Kapitel mempersilakan Pater Stefanus Berty Tijow MSC memberikan refleksi pengantar kepada para peserta kapitel. Kegiatan ini dimula padai pukul 10.30 WITA. Melalui refleksinya, Pater Berty membantu kapitulares untuk merenungkan awal perjalanan kapitel provinsi.
Beliau menegaskan kembali tentang kultur hidup membiara dan pentingnya kesadaran akan identitas religius atau ke-MSC-an. Pater Berty juga mengangkat pengalaman dan pergumulan pribadi berkaitan dengan “formation and on going formation” berangkat dari dokumen “Per Vino nuovo, otri nuovi” yang dikeluarkan oleh Dicasteri untuk Hidup Bakti dan Serikat Hidup Kerasulan pada tanggal 6 Januari 2017, yang berisi hasil refleksi hidup bakti dan tantangannya yang terus berlanjut sejak Konsili Vatikan II. “Dalam konteks ini, penting sekali menghayati makna novita yakni kebaruan dan pembaruan dalam menanggapi tantangan-tantangan zaman,” tuturnya.
Bertitik tolak dari refleksi Paus Fransiskus, Pater Berty menggarisbawahi betapa vital unsur kegembiraan dan spirit pembaruan dalam mengikuti Kristus. Pater Berty mengajak peserta berefleksi. “Apakah perjalanan para peserta kapitel mengikuti Yesus dan menjadi imam MSC sungguh-sungguh dijiwai oleh kegembiraan dan sukacita?”
Rasa gembira dan sukacita ini akan terpancar dan “mempesona” generasi muda masa kini ketika para imam MSC testimoni dan berbagi pengalaman tentang hidup bakti dan hidup imamat.
Pater Berty juga mengangkat tema kembali ke Galilea sebagai salah satu hal penting untuk merenungkan pengalaman “jatuh cinta” para murid kepada Yesus, sebagai tolak ukur pengalaman jatuh cinta dan terpesonanya para peserta kapitel kepada Yesus.
Selanjutnya beliau menyampaikan pokok perenungan Paus Fransiskus pada Hari Hidup Bakti ke-27, pada 2 Februari 2023, di Katedral Kinshasa, Kongo. Para imam, biarawan biarawati, dan seminaris diajak untuk menyadari bahwa para religius dan imam dipanggil untuk menjadi tanda kehadiran Kristus, tanda cinta-Nya yang tanpa syarat, pengampunan, dan belaskasih-Nya. Memang disadari bahwa untuk mewujudkan panggilan ini, kita dihadapkan pada pelbagai tantangan seperti kondisi spiritual yang biasa-biasa saja, kenyamanan duniawi dan godaan hidup yang dangkal.
Pada bagian akhir refleksinya, Pater Berty mengutip dokumen “Per Vino nuovo, otri nuovi” no. 48 yang menyatakan: “Kapitel (atau sidang serupa), entah khusus atau umum, saat tarekat-tarekat dipanggil untuk memilih para pemimpin menurut norma-norma yang digariskan dalam konstitusi mereka, dan untuk mendiskresikan, dalam terang Roh Kudus, cara-cara yang terbaik untuk melestarikan dan menyesuaikan kharisma mereka serta warisan rohani mereka dengan situasi-situasi sejarah dan budaya yang berubah-ubah.” (lih. Para peserta kapitel lalu diajak bermimpi dan memiliki visi masa depan yang berakar pada kharisma pendiri namun tetap memperhatikan relevansi dengan situasi zaman. Momen kapitel merupakan momen penting “proses berjalan bersama” untuk mencari kehendak Kristus. Sama seperti para majus yang berjalan bersama dari pelbagai tempat, dituntun oleh bintang yang sama, dan kemudian melangkah di jalan yang sama, untuk menemukan Yesus. Saat proses tersebut berlangsung, dalam mimpi, Tuhan mengingatkan untuk kembali ke negerinya melalui jalan lain. Sungguh hal ini merupakan suatu proses discernment yang indah dan sempurna.
Setelah Pater Berty menyampaikan refleksinya, Ketua Kapitel mengundang para peserta hening sejenak, mengendapkan apa yang telah disampaikan, lalu menyebutkan secara spontan satu atau dua kata yang paling berkesan dalam hatinya.
Sidang Pembuka dan Sidang Pertama
Sidang Pembuka diadakan pada hari Senin, 6 Februari 2023, pukul 16.00 WITA, dibuka dengan Doa Kapitel Provinsi MSC Indonesia oleh seluruh peserta. Sidang ini dipimpin langsung oleh Ketua Kapitel sekaligus Pemimpin Provinsi, Pater Samuel Maranresy MSC.
Sidang pembukaan dimulai dengan proses Roll Call, pemanggilan nama-nama peserta kapitel oleh pemimpin provinsi, sapaan pemimpin provinsi, pengesahan para fungsionaris kapitel oleh pemimpin provinsi, pengesahan tata tertib persidangan oleh pemimpin provinsi, penyerahan kepemimpinan sidang kepada moderator, penjelasan tentang proses kapitel oleh Steering Committee (SC), penyampaian hal-hal praktis yang relevan, dan sapaan pemimpin umum.
Setelah makan malam, pada pukul 19.30 WITA sidang pertama dimulai. Moderator sidang adalah Pater Johanis Ohoitimur MSC. Moderator mempersilakan pemimpin provinsi untuk menyampaikan laporan tentang realitas Kongregasi Misionaris Hati Kudus (Tarekat MSC) Provinsi Indonesia selama tahun 2020-2023.
Pemimpin provinsi mengawali sidang dengan ucapan terima kasih atas kepercayaan yang diberikan seluruh anggota kepada Dewan Pimpinan Provinsi yang telah bekerja selama tiga tahun. Pemimpin provinsi menyampaikan pengantar laporan dengan menjelaskan bahwa arah provinsi di bawah kepemimpinan Provinsi MSC Indonesia periode 2020-2023 dijalankan dalam bingkai tema Kapitel Klender 2017: “Mari Kita Bertolak Lebih ke dalam Lagi Demi Misi: Menjadi Murid Hati Kudus, Pelayan, dan Pengurus dalam Hidup dan Karya”. Dewan Provinsi Harian dan Dewan Provinsi Lengkap terus mengawal implementasi hasil-hasil Kapitel tersebut.
Mengingat waktu telah menunjukkan 20.55 WITA, moderator mengarahkan para peserta kapitel untuk mempertimbangkan kemungkinan melanjutkan laporan presentasi dengan tambahan waktu pada malam hari atau melanjutkannya pada esok hari. Akhirnya, sidang menyepakati agar laporan tersebut dilanjutkan pada esok hari. (Tim Sekretariat)
First Day (6 February 2023)
Reflection Introduction
Frater Samuel Maranresy MSC as Chair of the Chapter invited Frater Stefanus Berty Tijow MSC to give an introductory reflection to the Chapter participants. This began at 10.30 a.m. Through his reflection, Frater Berty helped participants meditate on beginning their journey at the Provincial Chapter.
He reiterated the culture of monastic life and the importance of awareness of the religious identity of the MSC. He also raised his experiences and struggles regarding “formation and ongoing formation” commencing from the Document “Per Vino Nuovo, Otri Nuovi” issued by the Dicastery for Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life on January 6 2017, which contains the results of the reflection “Consecrated Life and the continued challenges since the Second Vatican Council.” In this context, the importance of Novita’ is newness and renewal in responding to the challenges of the times.
Afterward, starting from Pope Francis’ reflections, Frater Berty underlined the importance of the elements of joy and novelty in following Christ. So, the question that arises is, does following Jesus and becoming an MSC or priest, truly lived with happiness and joy? Because happiness and joy should be a testimony and promotion of a consecrated and priestly life that can “enchant” the young generation of today.
Frater Berty also raised the theme of returning to Galilee as one of the most important things to reflect on as the experience of the disciples “falling in love” with Jesus, which can be a benchmark of the experience of falling in love and captivation of the chapter participants with Jesus.
Next, he conveyed the main points of Pope Francis’ reflections on the 27th Day of Consecrated Life, last February 2, 2023, at the Kinshasa Cathedral, Congo to priests, nuns and seminarians. Participants were invited to realize that the religious along with priests are called to be a sign of Christ’s presence, a sign of His unconditional love, forgiveness, and mercy. It is recognized that to realize this calling, we are faced with various challenges that must be faced and overcome, namely mediocre spiritual conditions, worldly comforts and the temptation to live superficially.
At the end of his reflection, Frater Berty again quoted the document “Per Vino nuovo, Otri Nuovi” no. 48 which states: “Chapters (or similar assemblies), whether special or general, in which institutes are called upon to elect Superiors according to the norms laid down in their Constitutions, and to discriminate, in the light of the Holy Spirit, the best ways to preserve and adapt their charisms and their spiritual heritage to changing historical and cultural circumstances.” (cf. VC. 42). Finally, the Chapter Participants were invited to dream and have a vision for the future that is rooted in the charisma of the founder and is always relevant according to the situation of the times, and to make this Chapter meeting a “process of walking together” to seek the will of Christ. Just as the magi traveled together from various places, led by the same star, to walk the same path, to find Jesus, and in the process warned by God in a dream to return to their country by a different route. Truly this was a process of discernment that was beautiful and perfect.
After Frater Berty gave his reflections, the Chapter Chairperson invited the participants to take a moment of silence, reflect on what had been said, and then spontaneously mention one or two words that were most memorable that resided in their hearts.
Opening and First Session
The Opening Session began on Monday, 6 February 2023, at 16.00 WITA starting with prayers at the MSC Indonesia Provincial Chapter. This session was chaired directly by the Chapter Chairman who is also the Provincial Leader, Frater Samuel Maranresy MSC.
Proceedings of the opening session began with a Roll Call, calling the names of Chapter participants, followed by greetings by the Provincial Head, validation of Chapter functionaries along with ratification of the Meeting Rules and Procedures also by the Provincial Head, and then handing over the Council Leadership to the Moderator along with the Explanation of the Chapter Process by the Steering Committee (SC), delivery of relevant practical matters, and finally Greetings from the Assembly Leader.
After dinner, at 19.30 the assembly continued with the First Session. The moderator was Frater Johanis Ohoitimur MSC. The Moderator invited Provincial Heads to submit their Provincial reports on the situation of the Indonesian Provincial MSC Congregation throughout 2020-2023. At this assembly, the Provincial Head began this session by thanking all members for the trust given to the Provincial Leadership Council which has worked for three years. The Provincial Head delivered an introduction to the Provincial Leader’s report by explaining firstly that the direction of the Province under the leadership of the MSC Indonesia Province for the 2020-2023 period is carried out within the framework of the 2017 Klender Chapter theme: “Going Deeper For the Mission: To Be Disciples of the Sacred Heart, Servants , and Custodians in Life and Work”. The Daily Provincial Council and the Complete Provincial Council continue to oversee the implementation of the results of the Chapter.
Given that the time was showing 20.55, the moderator directed the chapter participants to consider the possibility of continuing the presentation report with additional time at night or continuing it the next day.
